April 21, 2018: The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has released dash cam video of a police chase that spanned three North Fulton cities and where speeds exceed 120 miles an hour.
The Alpharetta officer engaged in the pursuit when he tried to pull over the driver of a white Mercedes 300 around 1:55 a.m. April 21 for speeding on Ga. 400 near Haynes Bridge Road. The video, which is roughly 20 minutes long, shows the officer traveling southbound on Ga. 400 when the Mercedes passes the patrol vehicle at a “high rate of speed,” Alpharetta police spokesperson Officer Howard Miller previously told Patch.
The officer clocked the vehicle traveling at 100 miles per hour. The vehicle went around the officer’s car and slowed down to roughly 65 miles per hour.
“We attempted to initiate a traffic stop and as another officer arrived to assist, the Mercedes accelerated to speeds in excess of 143 mph on GA-400,” Miller said.
Things began to heat up when the officer activated his emergency lights and siren. The Mercedes accelerates and continues southbound, passing the Mansell Road and Holcomb Bridge Road interchanges and crossing over the Chattahoochee River into Sandy Springs. The car blows past the Northridge Road interchange and the exit ramp to the North Springs MARTA station and gets off Ga. 400 at Abernathy Road.
The driver turns west on Abernathy and guns it towards Roswell Road where his speeds reach between 70 and 85 miles per hour. He turns right onto Roswell Road and speeds through the four-lane highway until he reaches and crosses over Roswell’s city limits. Once in Roswell, the chase continues northbound on Atlanta Street and Alpharetta Highway, crosses over Highway 92 and continues towards Hembree Road where he swerves to avoid stop strips set up in front of North Fulton Hospital.
The suspect makes a U-turn, continues southbound on Highway 9 and turns right to go westbound on the eastbound side of Highway 92/Crossville Road. The Mercedes continues to drive on the wrong side of the highway and turns right onto Crabapple Road. He continues on Crabapple Road and turns left onto Hembree Road and makes a right onto Chaffin Road. From Chaffin, he continues to speed through the neighborhood until he reaches Hardscrabble Road where he makes a right. Once on Hardscrabble, the suspect tries to turn right onto Rucker Road where the Alpharetta patrol car crashes into the Mercedes’ rear.
The 49-year-old suspect was taken into custody and was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he was treated. Miller told Patch Bolling was booked in to the Fulton County Jail and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, speeding (143 in a 65 mph zone), DUI less safe, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal/changing lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to obey traffic control devices and driving while unlicensed. He was wanted on an aggravated stalking warrant out of Forsyth County and DUI charges from Broward County, Florida.
Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tracy Flanagan said Bolling received a $15,500 bond on the charges related to his Alpharetta incident. However, he has no bond stemming from the two warrants from Forsyth and Broward counties, so he will remain held at the Fulton County Jail.
The Alpharetta officer who crashed into the Mercedes was also injured and treated at an area hospital.
