Eternal life! Oh, the thought of living forever in joy, peace and love that never ends, never gets old and always fulfills! This eternal life is what Jesus offers all of us!

Just think of all the glimpses of heaven, of eternal life, which God continues to show us right here on earth. These are times when we are astounded by joy, beauty and thanksgiving so we breathe, taste and feel it – and never want it to end. It’s the overwhelming feeling of joy when you look into your child’s eyes. It’s the moment of resolve when two minds share a single thought and purpose. It’s the love between a husband and wife when two hearts beat as one.

We get tastes of heavenly awe in so many places, such as when we walk on an ocean beach with crashing waves. The rhythm of sound, the pattern of the water and sand, in and out, never ending, makes it feel like we belong there; Like we are joined with the mystery and majesty of the ocean that is so much bigger than anything we can imagine.

I’d have to imagine that eternity with Jesus would include music that makes your heart sing and your legs dance! Where song after incredible song fills you with delight, smiles and joy.

Jesus described eternity as a harmony, a oneness with God when he said, “Whatever the Father does, the Son also does” (John 5:19). Here we see Jesus describing his very identity, as one with the Father. It is an identity of amazing love where Jesus and God are separate but one. Imagine living forever inside that kind of love. Jesus and God and you – together!!

Then Jesus made his offer so clear, so available to all people: “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life” (John 5:24). Could anything be more desirable than to have eternal joy, peace and love that never gets old and always fulfills?
