When I first became a born again Believer it was so simple back then. When the gospel of salvation was preached, my heart yearned within me. A spiritual thirst came in, and the simple invitation to "Come and drink of the living waters of life" was so inviting. So pure and full of comfort.

From then a well of water of eternal life sprang up within me. That new birth from above always causes the believer to offer those in this "dry and thirsty land where no water is," to "Come and drink." A fountain is opened up within them that flows.

I remember taking so much upon myself back in those early days thinking that if someone rejected the living waters of the gospel I offered to them, it was my own failure.

I did not realize that word to be so deeply true, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." It had nothing to do with me at all and never could be. I had to grow up.

Actually it was because those people were not thirsty at all. Thirsty people drink. During Jesus life He always said "Come." From the second day of His showing He said, "Come and see." Later to cry out in the temple, "If any man thirst let him come and drink!" After His resurrection He told those seven disciples, "Come and dine. "

And still in His final letter to the churches, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst Come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22:17.

Jesus is saying to you today, "Come," as "there is a door open in heaven." He bids all to come. Get rid of the garments of intellectualism like blind Bartemaeus cloak. Cast them down and come to Christ pure and simple. It is a standing open invitation to enter into eternal life, that only the "redeemed of the Lord" obtain.

Where sins are eternally forgiven and "joy and gladness" will be their crown. The time of the church age is coming to an end swiftly, now is the time to accept the invitation and "take of the water of life freely" and live forever.

“I think of the love of God as a great river, pouring through us even as the waters pour through our ravine at flood time. Nothing can keep this love from pouring through us, except of course our own blocking of the river." ~Amy Carmichael
