QUEEN OF THE RAIN

Lightning flares and releases thunder's cry.
The sky darkens and light offers no gain.
Earth awaits an offering from on high.
Clouds gather to greet the Queen of The Rain.

Shadows form where brightness is seen no more,
and lurk as dry bones end their fateful tryst.
Rain droplets play their melodious score,
spilling out to cleanse Mother Earth with mist.

Scorched land’s ready to accept from her hand,
comfort for cracked lips baked by the hot sun.
A balm of relief to soothe arid land,
now a well spring for a verdant garden.

All are rehearsed to perform on her cue.
Lightning sparks, thunder booms its welcomed beat.
Queen of The Rain brings moisture overdue,
empties her chalice to end drought and heat.

She bows and the treasure of her wet hair,
sprinkles upon the earth from silver strands.
Parched souls dance with joy for gifts of her lair,
thankful the dry earth was healed by her hands!
Poem by: Sheila Bowyer Kline

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby." Langston Hughes
