The KHREPTOVICHI ESTATE, the Palace & Park Complex in Shchorsy, Belarus.

The Palace and park complex in Shchorsy is known by many as Khreptovichi Estate. One of the richest magnate families in Belarus, who was known beyond their native lands, and is mentioned in the union of Horodil, at the beginning of the 15th century.

This location gained popularity when in the 18th century, Joachim Litavor Khreptovich, built a palace here, and the decision was taken to build the estate in the classical french architectural style, and the construction started in 1770, and lasted six years.

The Khreptovichi Estate (complex), was surrounded by a park and artifical lakes & ponds, with the Palace at the center, which was a one story house in the classical style with baroque elements. On the estate they set up, a distillery, a smokehouse, and an oil mill, with the ponds being used for fishing.

During world war one, the palace was badly damaged by fire, and it was demolished. The then last count Khreptovichi, and his wife, were arrested in 1939, and a few years later it was given to a collective farmer and fell into disrepair.

Today, little remains of the former grandeur of the Khreptovichi palace & park complex. Although restoration has never been carried out, many attempts have been made to save the estate, restore the estate and it's historical heritage.
