Sherri Papini sentenced to 18 months in prison for mail fraud, making false statements after faking her own kidnapping in 2016

Sherri Papini, the northern California mother who faked her own kidnapping in 2016, was sentenced to a year and a half in prison Monday. The hoax was exposed with the help of advances in DNA technology. Papini admitted to the hoax and pleaded guilty in April to mail fraud and making false statements.
