Back in 1955, when Soviet General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev was visiting India, he told his hosts that Moscow and New Delhi were so close that if the Indians were to call from the mountain tops, the Russians would be at their side. Fast-forward almost 70 years and the Russian-Indian partnership is still going strong, despite global upheavals and at times divergent interests.
