FLAMINGO

FLAMINGO are pink, but the tone varies. While European has the lightest tone, Caribbean varies to darker. At birth, the chicks have completely clear plumage. It changes as they feed. A flamingo's diet is made up of algae, shrimp, crustaceans and plankton. To be able to eat, they must live in large areas of salt or alkaline water; in shallow depths and at sea level, they are very sociable and do well in groups. The flamingo's natural habitat is shrinking; due to the contamination of water reserves and the felling of the native forest, reports the experts.
