Do Ants Build Neighborhoods? / Texas Fire Ant Casting / Aluminum Ant Mound Sculpture

For 2 years this mound has slowly been migrating. Picking up and moving over a few inches every time a lawn mower passes over. It looks like a long neighborhood that kept expanding in one direction. The mound has been vacant for a few months with no activity and thought the rain had washed out most of the mound. We had a small amount of aluminum left in the pot from a previous project and decided to pour in this mound to make a small casting. To our surprise it took what we had and looked like it needed more. We decided to leave it for a few weeks to gather more aluminum and time. It took another 3 full pots of aluminum to make this casting.
