Hold Fast That Which Is Good
(Staying on God’s will)
Text: 1Thess 5:21
Obj: that the brethren will stay in the will of Lord

Intro:
Define: hold, fast(Securely fixed in place)
Define good and many examples

Good things we should adhere to:
1. God
a. Psalms 73:1 b. Psalms 73:28 c. Psalms 84:11
d. Psalms 143:10 e. Psalms 147:1 f. Proverbs 3:4
g. Jesus – i. Matthew 19:17, ii. Mark 10:18
2. Other good things – also from the Lord
a. Education – Learning - wisdom
b. God pleasing relationships – ‘findeth a good thing’ – obtain favor of the Lord
c. Good creations – Ecc. – ‘without me you can do nothing’
d. Church – fellowship fellow believers

How to Stay in God’s Good will:
1. Study – “know perfectly” v.2, 2 Tim. 2:15
2. Always be Alert and Ready – v.6 – ‘not sleep’ – not drunken, sober
3. Make Salvation sure (in not yet or doubting) – v.9
4. Fellowship with believers to stay Strong – v.11, 26
a. Pray – v.25, 23
5. Take the Lead of Matured Christian godly leaders – vv.12-13, 15
a. Specially of the Lord through His Spirit – v.19
6. Consider other negative things and deal accordingly – vv. 14-15
a. Evil, unruly, support the weak
b. Avoid evil, sin – v. 22
7. Attend and Listen in Church services – preaching – v.20
8. Prove all things – v.21
9. Stay in the will of God and NEVER Let go – v.21
10. Focus on the Goal – v. 23 – peace, sanctification, preserved
Message/conclusion:

Let us know and do the will of the Lord, and stay there, NEVER let go!
