Ethics in Canadian Universities with Dr. Julie Ponesse

After 2 years of professional and relational struggle for many regarding the vaccine mandates, we all just want to move on. However, the procedures and protocols of some major academic institutions are making that moving on almost impossible.

Over the past months, and weeks, many university students have had to make the tough decision of whether or not they would get the 3rd covid shot in spite of feeling coerced, or halt their studies indefinitely. Ethics scholars are weighing in on the issue afresh with the rise in vaccine complications in young people such as myocarditis.

Our guest today, Dr. Julie Ponesse, is one such scholar. With a Masters in Philosophy and a Specialization in Bioethics. Dr. Ponesse has published in the areas of ancient philosophy, ethical theory, and applied ethics, and has taught at universities in Canada and the US for 20 years. She joins us today to tell her story of how her 20-year academic career fell apart after refusing to comply with the Canadian university’s covid vaccine mandate. She is now with the Democracy Fund as their ethics scholar, focusing on educating the public on civil liberty, mandates, and ethics in Canada’s universities.
