Title: Got hired for my first Junior Software Developer role with a high paying salary and I feel like an imposter

First of all, congratulations on your new role! That’s a pretty big achievement!

Your feeling has a name: The imposter syndrome!

Which is defined as **doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud**

It disproportionately affects high-achieving people, who find it difficult to accept their accomplishments.

A Very common feeling with developers to be honest, my recommend in this situation would be:

1. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stay focused and work hard.

You’re probably looking around you and thinking:

Wow! How good these guys are.

Be confident in your ability to learn quick and deliver what you know!

2. Continue to be the person you’re
There is a reason why you were hired!
They definitely have seen your huge potential to help their company.
Now, is just a matter of you start see the same thing in yourself.
3. Find a senior person that you can leverage as a mentor
Having someone above you, to share all that experience, is definitely a game changer!
Although there isn’t a shortcut to take, you can still make good choices.
That will improve your career path!
4. You will never feel 100% confident in any role you apply.
Being a software developer is being a forever student.
There always will be new technologies to challenge ourselves.
You just need to be confident at your ability to up-skill yourself whenever the time comes.

If you’re in the same situation, keep strong! Continue to believe in yourself!
