Canada: Civil society groups call for permanent residency for all migrants in Canada – September 14, 2022

In a virtual news conference, representatives from Migrant Rights Canada and other civil society organizations call on the federal government to ensure permanent residency status for all undocumented residents in the country, as well as permanent immigration status for all migrant workers, students and refugees. Taking part in the event are Syed Hussan (Migrant Rights Network Secretariat and executive director of the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change), Mary Foster (Migrant Rights Network Secretariat), Caroline Michael (undocumented health-care worker from Toronto), Pénélope Boudreault (national operations director of Doctors of the World), Danilo De Leon (undocumented migrant leader from Edmonton), Nina Gonzalez (coordinator of the regularization campaign for the Immigrant Workers Centre), Lauren Ravon (executive director of Oxfam Canada), Laurence Guénette (executive director of La Ligue des droits et libertés), and Caroline Brouillette (national policy manager of Climate Action Network).
