In this video we take you through three simple exercises that you can combine in a routine to build and keep a strong and healthy back. The three exercises cover separate areas of low back stability and will help you build a strong low back.

Firstly you have the exercise to help engage the core and control for extension of the lower back. This exercise is mainly working on isometric strength or rather, stability, of your lower back.

The second exercise contains two components. Connecting firstly with exercise one to complete the core stabilisation providing support against flexion of the lower back. This connects with the stability from the front to provide a strong and stable core. This exercise also employs the large and powerful muscles of the lower posterior chain to drive motion through the hips.

Finally we have a middle back exercise to provide blended support completing the chain higher up the back, supporting the middle back and posture in general.

Together these three exercises create a stable foundation at the level of the trunk, which is integrated both above, for stability, and below, for power and movement.
