This week, John approaches the chasm of death. Will he submit to the trial by fire, or will he cower his way back home? The Christian journey is not for the faint of heart nor is it hospitable to the tourist. Christianity is the process of coming to terms with reality through the matrix of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. If you preach Christ without also preaching His death and the need for his followers to mimic Him, then you preach nothing to no one. Unless the snake has been held up, the wounded will not be healed. And unless the snake is looked at (dead in the eye), sweet healing will not come. So be brave adventurers! The greatest battle is yet to be fought!
