Biden & Left Unbelievable Celebration of Failures
You may have heard the old expression, Nero fiddled while Rome burned. While we’ll never know if the Roman emperor really just played music while a great fire engulfed the famous city, the point of the saying is that he was ineffectual and behaved foolishly and inappropriately in a time of great crisis and suffering for his people.
It’s hard to say it doesn’t sound familiar. Yesterday the economy took another huge hit after news that inflation had gotten even worse, and what did President Biden do to reassure the American people that he was on the job? He sipped champagne with elite guests on the White House lawn. No fiddle of course, but President Biden did hire a music icon to provide the entertainment.
Talk about a slap in the face of working Americans at a time like this.
President Biden claimed it was a celebration for the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act, which to date has reduced nothing other than what remains of the President’s credibility. Meanwhile, the stock market took a 1,300-point dive which is, to say the least, significant. The market reacted negatively to the release of the latest inflation figures, which as one would expect were also not optimistic.
Many Americans are struggling right now. They’re truly terrified about the future. And when they looked to the leader of our country, what was he doing? Having a party, enjoying an elite private concert with singer James Taylor, celebrating some made-up victory.
And for what it’s worth, I am a fan of James Taylor’s music, but the irony of him singing Fire and Rain – a song about tragedy and loss – at a Biden “victory” party is not lost on me. This is why we're constantly saying elections have consequences.
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes further in-depth discussion of the President's celebration yesterday in the wake of more awful economic news for the country. We also paid tribute to my friend, personally and professionally, former Solicitor General of the United States, Ken Starr who passed away yesterday. Ken was one of the nicest people I’ve known and he was a true scholar with an unquestionable understanding of the law, and had a tremendous impact on other lawyers. Ken was a respected colleague of mine and he will be greatly missed. The ACLJ sends our prayers and condolences to his family.
