How does intermittent fasting affect a person’s fitness and endurance?

Dr. Marik says that for the average person (i.e. not a high-level athlete), intermittent fasting increases energy and endurance. He suggests continuing to consume high-quality protein so that lean muscle mass is maintained. Dr. Been adds that our bodies adapt quickly but that if someone is having issues adapting to less meals or if they are experiencing other health issues, consulting with a doctor is a good idea.
