Uber pays $100M in back taxes over driver classification dispute

Uber recently paid the New Jersey Department of Labor $100M in back taxes over a driver classification dispute. Uber classified its drivers as independent contractors, avoiding the payment of benefits such as unemployment, temporary disability and family leave insurance.
