Pasadena, California – On July 30, 2022 at about 2:25 a.m., Adam Youines, 35, was shot and killed by Pasadena police after he drove at them in an allegedly stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a strip mall on Orange Grove Boulevard near the intersection with North Lake Avenue.

Dashcam video shows the carjacking suspect, identified as Adam Youines, holding a gun to his head. For eight minutes officers asked Youines to put down his weapon and surrender peacefully. Youines continued to jerk the car forward, and later called the Pasadena Police Department and told a dispatcher he wanted to kill himself and repeatedly asked to be shot.

“Adam are you still there? How can we help you?” the dispatcher asked. The dispatcher later attempted to contact the Youines’ mother. “I’m done,” he said. “Done. Shoot me, shoot me, shoot me,” he said. Youines lurched forward in a wrecked white minivan towards officers, who immediately fired their duty weapons.

Pasadena is a city in California, northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
