HERON'S PERCH

The Blue Herons take up residence along the shoreline of the Potomac River after the Osprey leaves for Florida, Central and South America, and the Caribbean around mid-September. During the Osprey nesting season, the Heron is chased away by the Ospreys, the dominant fish hawk, even over the Bald Eagle.
