The DMCA: A turning point, a constant battle, and... a loophole.

Someone asked me on Twitter to explain what current challenges to the (US) law being fought by the Wayback Machine are... and I thought it might be good to go back to the DMCA, and what it did to the Internet.

Like most things, you can't really explain what is happening now without going back over 20 years - to the time when corporate America declared war on the internet.

Spoiler alert: they won.
