The New Mazda CX60 2023 is the first in a series of longitudinally-engined SUVs that are designed to move the brand closer to premium rivals. Sitting on Mazda's new Skyactiv scalable architecture, the CX-60 is a sleek and stylish SUV that is closely related to the CX-70.

Digital instruments and a 12.3-inch central display screen come standard in the CX-60, but it still has conventional HVAC controls. The CX-70 likely will too. It's strange that although the large display supports touch input when running Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, it doesn't for Mazda's native navigation system. That still needs to be commanded through the click-wheel controller.

The PHEV's total system output is 323 horsepower and the battery pack has a capacity of 17.8-kWh which gives it a range of up to 39 miles under Europe's WLTP testing protocol. Although its range falls short of the Toyota RAV4 PHEV or Volvo XC60 Recharge T8 Extended Range PHEV, the Mazda's battery can be charged from 240-volt Level 2 equipment in just two hours and 20 minutes. Additionally, the engine can be used to top off the battery if needed.
