Sermon Outline:
As we unpack Psalm 16, we see 4 distinct calls upon us today:
1.) Cling to God and Cherish His Goodness (Psalm 16:1-2)
• A request to God for Salvation –
“preserve me, O God”
• A reliance upon God for Security –
“for in you I take refuge…You are my Lord”
• A resolve in God for Satisfaction –
“I have no good apart from you”
2.) Delight in the Saints and Deny the Ways of Sinners (Psalm 16:3-4)
• Delight in the excellency of the saints
• Deny the idolatry of the sinners
3.) Consider the Blessing of God and Live Securely in His Word
(Psalm 16:5-8)
• Contentment in the Lord’s Gift
• Praise for the Lord’s Guidance
• Security in the Lord’s Presence
4.) Be Glad in God and Trust His Goodness (Psalm 16:9-11)
• Gladness in God
• Resurrection in Christ
• Life through the Gospe
