11/8/2021 Soil Sample from my vegetable garden.

I wanted to show how to test my soil, the soil sample collection kit that the local cooperative extension office offers. It’s at a cost of $17, and provides all the info to properly collect your sample.
I actually took 12 samples from the garden and mixed them together to take the sample for the test. I used a soil probe to get the samples, but you can use a shovel. You need to make sure you get a full slice from the top of the soil down 6-8” if you use a shovel.
They suggest to sample garden every 1-2 years. The test shows your macro and micro nutrients as well as pH and organic matter in the soil, and showed the lead in my soil.
