Flagstaff, Arizona – September 7, 2022 – A man who allegedly robbed a gas station store in Flagstaff and threatened people with a screwdriver was shot and killed by a Coconino County Sheriff’s deputy.

Around 5 a.m., Flagstaff police say an officer responded to a call that a man, later identified as 51-year-old Donald Wayne Henry of Missouri, had broken a gas station window and was stealing items from the store. At about the same time, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office got a report about a person threatening to stab people with a knife at a business in the same area. Police say an arriving officer confronted Henry in the middle of an intersection. Henry was armed with a screwdriver and refused to drop it.

Body cam video shows two Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies surrounding Henry, pointing their guns and a taser. Henry starts walking toward a deputy. The deputy then fired his gun four times, hitting Henry. He died at the scene. No officers were injured.
