The Russian army rescued an Italian journalist who was reporting on the Ukrainian side in the Kherson region and was blown up by a mine of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The incident took place on August 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced. According to Matia Sorbi, after the start of the unsuccessful counter-offensive, men in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine promised to take him to the touchline by car.

Before reaching the front, they left, indicating to the Italian in which direction they should go. The army did not warn him that the area was mined, and the car was blown up. The driver was killed and Sorbi was seriously injured. Seeing the explosion, the army of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, despite the enemy fire, ran to help.

The Russian department announced that it was a provocation by the Ukrainian special services: they wanted to blame Russia for Mattia's murder.
