This is Time For United State to Establish a Space Force?

In recent weeks, various media outings by US Space Force military officials have reignited the debate on the true aims of this space force, which is the sixth entity of the US armed forces.

Established by President Donald Trump in December 2019, its main objectives are officially to protect American satellites against any physical attack (by collision with another object or by a missile), any hacking or jamming attempt, and to develop offensive military capabilities in space. However, since its creation, military and political leaders have had to dispel the misconception that this space force also has a hidden program of manned spaceflight and eventual deployment of troops on the Moon!

A few days ago, Lt. Gen. David D. Thompson, vice commander of the U.S. space force, reassured his international partners and the public by clarifying what Major General John Shaw, commander of space operations at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, had said.

"There are no plans today to send Space Force units into space," he said.
