Lying about Cancer on a Podcast. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION!

RAY HOLYCROSS, aka the "Internet Casanova", is asked about his CANCER scare from our sound guy, an actual CANCER SURVIVOR! Please read below...

When we shot the full episode with Ray Holycross, we had NO IDEA about his past and that he was known as the "Internet Casanova", the man who scammed and robbed over 38 women in 7 different states. Our whole entire relationship was built on the fact that he was DYING from cancer. He messaged me over Facebook in March 2019 telling me he came down with it and that he had stopped chemo so he can enjoy life until the end. Even though I had no idea who he was at the time, I really teared up. Cancer has really messed with a lot of important family & friends in my life. I saw we had over 40 mutual friends on Facebook, and realized it was because of a short film we worked on together. I was on set doing a small stunt scene, and he did the VFX behind the scenes, so we never had met. Concerned for the cancer, and seeing he was involved with the Phoenix Film Community, we engaged over messages for the next few months as he would give me his progress. Eventually, I asked him to come on the show to talk about it, which he did in Episode 42, but he never brought up the cancer. When my soundguy, who is a cancer survivor, asked him about it, he didn't want to talk about it. This was the 1st and last time I ever saw Ray Holcross.

Fast Forward a couple months, and someone comments on this very episode with a link that exposed his past. I was blown away. This was a national story on almost every major news network including Good Morning America, ABC News, 20/20, there is even a True Crime Documentary about him! This was A LOT of information to process and digest. His whole M.O. was lying and scamming people. I try not to judge but Of COURSE the thought ran across my mind...Does he really have cancer? When I messaged him what I had found out, he disappeared for 10 days leaving me even more confused. I tried reaching out to others that knew him for more clarification to no avail. In this time, a girlfriend of his messaged our podcast looking for him lol! She said they had been dating for 4 months and that he had never even mentioned the cancer and was a recent victim. Now I admit, I'd be upset if he lied about the cancer, but what I definitely don't want is him doing the same things to women again! You can see her post on Facebook with her thoughts about Ray. She hasn't seem him since.

He eventually popped up out of nowhere to message me that he was disappointed that I doubted his cancer, and even sent a link to the definition of what a fair-weather friend is lol. He then disabled all Social Media and has disappeared.

If he really has cancer, I just hope he can find peace and happiness within himself. The only way to do that is to show remorse and to make the world a better place with the short time he's got. I know he did time for this, but there are ways to use your story to inspire others, no matter what.

I was very disappointed that he didn't use my platform to say he was sorry or apologize to the women. He didn't want to talk about the cancer either. Instead, he just kept it about VFX. And if he told me about this stuff beforehand, I would have never invited him on my podcast! For now on, every guest gets a GOOGLE search and background check lol. LESSON LEARNED!
