Do NOT Trust Fitness Influencers | This Is Why

In today's video, we will delve deep into the shady world of fitness influencers.

Let's just put it out there. Most fitness influencers are full of Sh*t, not all (Greg Doucette, sean nalewanyj)… but most. Every buff alpha male and every beautiful bikini model you see is trying to play themselves off as the only expert around while trying to sell you something.

But this isn't something new. Everyone on every social media platform is trying to sell you something these days. The difference between a fitness influencer and the rest of the pack is that a fitness influencer can literally destroy your life in the process.

The first thing you have to understand is that fitness is a business. Every fitness influencer you know, like, and follow is focused on one thing... making money. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make money. Everyone needs to make a living. And they’re allowed to do it however they want. As long as it’s not illegal or unethical.

A fitness influencer's number one marketing tool... is themselves.
It’s their job to stay fit. By any means necessary. They have to look good 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is impossible for the average person with a regular job, a family, and personal obligations.

Being a fitness professional requires meticulous study and research.
Just because someone has many followers and a blue checkmark with their profile doesn’t make them an expert. But that won’t stop you from aspiring to be like them. And they will convince you that it’s easy.
All you have to do is sign up for their program.

As soon as you open any social media app, you get bombarded with images and videos of men and women who effortlessly maintain a perfect body. In turn, people start to look at themselves and compare themselves to the pictures they see. They’ll use it for motivation to get started, which is great. But when the results don’t come as fast as they expected or were promised, they start to suffer... both mentally and physically.

They can develop a negative body image, which could turn into full-blown body dysmorphia. This can lead to an unhealthy obsession with fitness to achieve an unrealistic dream body.
And getting that dream body isn't always done in the safest ways.
Things like bulimia, anorexia, and overtraining will all take a toll on you physically.

While missing out on celebrations and social functions because you feel like you don’t look good enough to attend, it will all add to your mental health issues. And this happens because the average person scrolling through Instagram or YouTube has no idea what's happening behind the scenes.

You might think that these naturally beautiful people are just that... natural. But in many cases, they’re about as far from natural as you can get. It’s no secret that steroids run rampant in the fitness community.

Their main priority isn't your health and fitness. It's to make money.
And because of this, not everything they say is true. And not every product they promote will work. Supplements, gym gear, fitness equipment. Anything goes here.

There’s no limit to what an influencer will attach their names to these days. But hey, as long as they have your hearts and ears and you're willing to open your wallets for them, who cares?

That pre-workout blend that has everything you’ve never heard of in there?
The newest gym shorts to make your butt look nice and plump? That latest sets of workout bands that come with a 15 min per day program, guaranteed to build you muscle?

The so-called perfect formula?

According to them. It exists! But.... they’re the only ones that have it! Not that other guy you follow! Just them!

If you decide you want to find someone to help you out in your fitness journey.. Here's a few tips to consider.

Number 1... don’t follow someones advice, just because they’re good-looking (paige Hathaway). You can edit anything these days and make yourself look however you want. None of it is real

Number 2... don’t follow someone just because they have a lot of followers or a blue check mark (Simeon panda). The only thing that is having a lot of followers means is that they were good at sales and marketing. It doesn’t mean that they give good advice.

And Number 3... don’t follow someone who asks for the sale first (Vshred) instead of providing value first. You want to follow people who give a ton of great FREE advice (Athlean X), with the option of making a purchase from them... not the requirement.

Fitness is simple. Don’t let anyone tell you anything different. By now we all know what’s healthy and what isnt. Eat right and exercise. Yes... its that simple.
