Israeli Archeologist Find Evidence Of Ivory, A Luxury Item Mentioned In The Bible

Elephant-tusk ivory plaques from the First Temple period (7th-8th BCE) were discovered in Jerusalem for the first time in an unlikely location: a parking lot. Archaeologists think the plaques were found in a building devastated by a fire that occurred during the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE. The Jerusalem Post reported.

The ivory panels were found in the archaeological site formerly known as the Givati parking lot, next to the Old City of Jerusalem. Haaretz reports.

No less than 1,500 ivories were discovered during the excavation of a palatial building outside the Old City Walls and the first time archeologists have found evidence of a luxury item mentioned in the Bible: tiny ivory panels UPI is reporting.
