Bed Bath & Beyond finance chief falls to his death in NY

The man, who jumped from the 18th floor of the 'Jenga' tower in Manhattan, New York, on September 2, has been identified as Gustavo Arnal, the Chief Financial Officer of Bed Bath & Beyond, an US-based chain of retail stores, according to multiple reports. CNBCTV18 reported.

On Wednesday, the beleaguered home goods retailer, which had seen its shares fall more than 50% in the previous two weeks, announced store closures and layoffs as part of a restructuring, sending its shares tumbling even further. Fortune Magazine reported.

The home and bath goods company has been struggling for some time due to a slump in sales and growing debt. The retailer has warned of a 26% drop in same-store sales between April and June. The BBC reports.
