Study description:
In this week's study, Dave introduces the book of Acts by doing a quick overview of the Bible, quickly covering the Pentateuch (the Torah), hitting on Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses. Then we look very quickly at "the law" also known as the Old Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant, which includes the 10 commandments. Then Dave gives a simple summary of the books of History, & the Prophets and how God uses the entire Old Testament to point to a new system, a New Covenant and a Messiah. This then leads us to the New Testament, the Gospels and finally, the Book of Acts. We then look at the author of Acts, Luke and his audience, a guy named Theophilus. Dave then goes through the first chapter of the book of acts in which we see Peter and the disciples elect a new member of the 12 to replace Judas Iscariot, names Matthias.
