Front Strut(s) Replacement On The “LF” Hyundai Sonata/ “JF” Kia Optima – 09/04/2022

So, just 1 mile past 97,000 miles, it was time for some new struts on the front of my 2019 Hyundai Sonata-SE. It is worth noting that this generation of Hyundai Sonata is known as the “LF” generation from 2014 – 2019; the Kia equivalent being the “JF” generation Optima from 2015 – 2020. These quick struts are made by FCS Auto which I got from the Rock Auto website; based on the vehicle information I punched in at Rock Auto, I was directed to part numbers, FCS 1334069L & FCS 1334069R. I went with quick struts because the springs have lost their tension and the ride height was uneven, and the dealer does not have quick struts from the manufacturer & I therefore would have had to piece everything separately; just one strut & nothing else from the dealer would have been $331.96 (after tax). I also don’t have the equipment needed to put the strut assembly together which in turn means I would have to have that done for me, then multiply that by two; this all means that this would have been at least a $1,500 job at the dealership!
