In this episode, we unbox and test out a must-have PlayStation 5 accessory if you are a PlayStation 5 or PS5 Digital owner, the Nexigo Horizontal Mounting Stand from Nexigo.

Update:
Nexigo has reached out to me to indicate they have updated the box art to a horizontal orientation, just like the product! Good news is that they are listening to feedback and continuing to improve their products!

Love or hate the overall design and aesthetics of the PlayStation. 5, one thing I think is universal is the overall disgust over the poor design of the pedestal. In vertical mode, it works great. It has a screw to go into the bottom of the system to keep it in place and it works great for that. And horizontal mode, however, it's terrible. The system slides around on It, it can fall off of It, and overall it's a poor design. Thankfully, the folks at Nexigo have designed a new horizontal mount for the PlayStation 5 that works with both the disc and the digital versions.

The overall design is pretty simple. It has three total pieces, a left, right, and for the digital-only version, a support for in the middle. Non-slip feet keep the system from sliding around both when you set it on something, and also the system itself. The white molded composite matches the color of the system very well, and if you didn't know better, you may think it was an official Sony accessory.

Installation takes mere seconds, depending on which version of the system you have. For me with my disk version, I had to get the support piece out of one side prior to installation. This wasn't easy and it took me a few minutes to remove as the tolerances are pretty tight. Once I had the pieces slid in place, however, I was good to go. The rocking was gone. The slipping and sliding were gone. I had a precise and secure way to have my PS5 orientated horizontally if and when I so desired. This is everything I wish the OEM Sony piece was and more.

Why it RoX:
- Elegant in its simplicity
- Under $25
- Matches the color of the system perfectly
- Compatible with digital-only and disk version
- Extremely stable

What could be improved:
- Getting the digital-only support piece out is a bit of a pain
- I'd really like to see this under 20 bucks
- This is splitting here's, but I'd like the tabs to be just a hair tighter around the edges of the system
- More colors would be great

Should you buy one?

This thing is a slam dunk, if you own a PlayStation 5 and store it in a horizontal orientation, don't think about it, don't consider It, just buy this. The included PS5 stand is nothing short of terrible for horizontal orientation, there's no way you can say otherwise, and this is an improvement across the board. It provides tremendous stability, it looks good, it's easy to install and remove, as I said, It's really a no-brainer for PlayStation 5 owners. While I do wish it was a little bit less expensive, under 20 bucks would be the sweet spot, in my opinion, Nexigo has really done a great job in executing an elegant yet simplistic design that simply works.
