Sherman M4A2 'Keren' - Walkaround - Normandy.

Production of the M4A2 tank began in June 1942 it would have had a welded hull and one piece cast nose, with a 75mm cannon.
And was manufactured by Fisher Tank Arsenal
It would have had a GM 6046 twin diesel engine.

This version was produced with all the improvements
the other types got, like the large hatch hull.

M4A2 was mostly supplied to other Allied countries under Lend-Lease.

The M4A2 would see limited combat in the US Army
and the French and British, would use them the most
and then the Russians and USMC in the Pacific.

The M4A2 would perform fairly welland would see service
after the war and would see many upgrades
Like the HVSS E8 tracks and, the 76mm M1 gun.

This Sherman tank named Keren belonged to the
French regiment 501e régiment de chars de combat
(501st fighting tanks regiment) .
It was knocked out outside the town of
Saint-Christophe-le-Jalolet around 3:30 p.m on
August 12, 1944.
It was hit two times, one shot bounced, another hit the
turret, Sergeant Pierre Brediger, Corporal Joseph Omnes and
Gunner Jacques Tubert
were killed instantly. The driver and radio/gunner, survived.

There are also two plaques bearing the names of
Colonel Robert Abraham and Adjudant Louis Fouant,
they deceased in 2004 and 2008.
their ashes to rest at the feet of the tank.

It's recorded that Henri Stephan and ReneéPonchon
were the crew members that survived that day.
But Robert Abraham and Louis Fouant are also recorded as
being the crew of this tank.
