Seahare (Aplysia oculifera) fouund in temperate rockpools near Swakopmund grazing on the seaweeds that produce oxygen (see the bubbles?) through photosynthesis : which is the light reaction or photochemical reactions resulting in the formation of ATP and NADPH, which are later utilised in the biosynthesis process. In the first stage, light energy is captured and converted to chemical energy. Oxygen is produced by splitting of water. Our oceans produce over 50% of the air we breathe and are therefore vital to our survival on this planet.
