Give Your PlayStation 5 & DualSense Controller A Customized Look !!
In this episode, we show you how to give your Playstation 5 and DualSense Controller a customized look with different faceplates from Nexigo.
One of the things that some people may have been disappointed about the launch of the PlayStation 5, not including the lack of product availability, was the fact that it only came in white. The PlayStation 4 launched in Black, however, they launched a white version later on down the road. For those looking to add some custom design flair to their system, the folks from Nexico have a fairly simple kit available that allows you to customize the look of your system andyour controller in a few easy steps.
The kit itself is pretty simple. It comes with a front and backplate, along with two plates for the controllers themselves. To swap out the plates on the system, it's a no-tool job. Everything, front and back, is kept on by pressure, which means the old plates simply slide off, and the new plates slide into place. One tip: As you're pushing down, lift up slightly on the corner with the PS logo, it will help remove the plates a lot easier.
Nexico offers a number of different colors for these plates. I opted to go for kind of a fire engine red, and the color is even more vibrant in person than what you see here on camera. As I stated in the video, it almost looks like the composite has some metal flake in it, it definitely has a sparkle. It almost looks like it has been spray painted, but you can tell that the color is impregnated and the composite throughout. Overall, the finish is beautiful.
Installing the custom faceplates on the dual sense controllers really couldn't be much easier. I use my thumbnail to pry the stock plate off of the bottom of the handgrips, and removed the existing unit from the rest of the controller. One tricky spot is that you do need to get the top prongs to go under the top of the controller versus over. It took me a few tries to get this right, but once I did the results were again terrific.
Why it RoX:
- Brilliantly simple to install
- Vibrant colors
- Available in a number of different colors
- Matching dual sense controller faceplates
- Reasonably priced
What could be improved:
- No instructions were provided to install the controller faceplates
- No PlayStation logo
Should you buy one?
I am a sucker for stuff like this, I love customizing my systems to make them my own. Back in the day with the Xbox 360, you could get those custom faceplates to decorate the front of your system. This feels very much in the same vein to me. The overall results look terrific, they're easy to install, and if you ever want to go back, it's a 5-minute process. With the variety of different colors available, you can truly make your system your own, and I absolutely love the look of this. Cherry Red PlayStation 5.
