A group of Parisians, along with the Ambassador for Miranda (a fictional South American country), attempt to have dinner together but are constantly interrupted.

The film opens with elements that suggest a mix of farce and political thriller, but the story becomes imbued with dream sequences that are increasingly violent and surreal.
