Chatfield Chargers State Championship Highlights vs Erie | featuring Peyton Manning

The Chatfield Chargers football team received their State Championship rings Monday, March 7, 2022. This highlight video of their 2021 title game 41-34 win over the Erie Tigers was created for the ceremony. It includes greetings and congrats from former Broncos & Colts QB and all-time great PEYTON MANNING, Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Justin Outten, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, and former Chatfield greats Dalton Keene (Virginia Tech, New England Patriots TE), Connor Lewis (Green Bay Packers Asst QB Coach).

The Chargers were underdogs at 9-3, coming in against 13-0 Erie. But led the best offensive line in the state, bar none, and 4A Player of the Year, Jake Marschall (151 Yd, 2 TD Rushing), Chatfield overcame an early 13-0 deficit and vaulted to a 34-20 lead with key plays by All-State athlete Mason Lowe (huge Int + return, forced fumble, 35 rush yd, 5 tackles), freshman Brock Narva (62 Yd, 1 TD rushing, 20 rec Yd, 10 tackles, Interception in red zone), junior Sam Ayres (57 yd, 2 rush TD), and NT Jackson McCullough (8 tackles).

But Erie came back with 2 late touchdowns tie the game at 34 with 1:54 to go. All the momentum was in the Tigers favor and the Chatfield offense was suddenly struggling. They had 0 pass completions all day. But Marschall converted a huge 3rd down run, and QB Jake Jones converted a hook and ladder pass to Lowe, who pitched it back to Narva for a big gain. A first down run out of bounds set up the greatest play in Chatfield history. Sophomore QB Jake Jones hit sophomore TE Drew Rohlman on a deep 32 yard touchdown pass with 11 seconds to go. And the rest was history...

The Chargers fended off great performances by Erie Sophomore QB Blake Barnett, who completed 21-29-258-2-2 and ran for additional 145 yards, as well as senior RB Caleb Theisen, who ran for 129 yards and 3 scores.
