The Story

This 1979 Porsche 911 was converted to a full race car in the early 2000’s, alongside nine other 911’s by John Simone and Ron Palmer out of San Diego, CA.

This specific 911 was the last and final of the ten, serving as John Simone’s personal race car, competing in the Porsche Club for the following decade and a half. The car made its way to Phoenix, AZ for a few short years - running in various HPDEs; until it made its way to the Chicagoland area in the middle of 2020.

Since 2020, the car has undergone a radical transformation back into a semi-street legal road car while still remaining completely minimalist at ~2,300lbs.

The car wears a 993 GT2 Evo 2 widebody, a 3.6L NA VarioRam air-cooled motor and G50 6-speed transmission from a 1997 911 Carrera. The car also dons one of multiple sets of Kinesis K28 wheels with 275mm front and 335mm rear tires, Big Red BBK with PFC-08 pads, a Fuel Safe 16-gallon fuel cell, JRZ Motorsports Series 11 suspension, Schroth 6-point harnesses, a pair of Tillett carbon fiber race seats, carbon fiber dash, polycarbonate windows, a SpeedHut GPS Speedometer, Carbon fiber banana wing w/ custom URW uprights and much, much more.

Most recently the car underwent a full bodywork overhaul, removing the classic John Simone checkered livery in place of a full respray to single color Polar Silver at Revive Autobody in Schaumburg, IL. She also wears a custom stainless exhaust built by the wizards at Ultima Race Works in Crystal Lake, IL.
