Homesteading Veterans: a live conversation with Dave and Amanda Allen

Dave and Amanda Allen are disabled Army veterans who began homesteading in 2015. Each had established their own individual small homesteads before they combined them in 2017. Since combining their homesteads, they have moved twice, establishing their homesteads from scratch each time, as well as increasing production and creating what is now known as Arrowhead Homestead. This has given them the unfortunate education of being masters at starting a homestead from nothing. Their current, and hopefully last, homestead is located in Northwest Indiana on 7 acres where they raise pastured chickens and turkeys, ducks, rabbits, and goats as well as a large garden for vegetables and fruit trees. They are looking forward to expanding into maple syrup and pastured pigs in the near future. Amanda, also owns and operates Bohica Soapworks, LLC on the homestead. Bohica Soapworks creates artisan soap and bath products with the goat milk and herbs from the property.
