Brittney Griner Sentenced to 9 Years in Russian Prison

WNBA Star Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison over a drug possession charge. The 31-year-old basketball player heard her fate from inside a cramped cage in a courtroom outside Moscow. During the hearing, Griner's plea for mercy fell on deaf ears. Her defense team said Brittney expected the worst and it all came true. President Biden denounced the sentence by saying, "It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately."
