John Cena: 10 Greatest Matches
John Cena, one of the all-time greatest WWE Superstars, has definitely made his stamp on the company after an incredible wrestling career.
Which of those victories, though, stands out above the others? The top 10 greatest John Cena WWE title victories are listed ranked as follows.
10. Unforgiven 2006
At Edge's expense and in dramatic way, Cena successfully defended his title in Canada, against all odds.
Edge had the option of choosing the sort of match they would play, and he opted for Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.
Cena performed the AA from the top, sent the Canadian through two tables, and won the contest after both he and Edge were on harmonious ladders.
9. Hell in a Cell 2013
After suffering an arm injury, Cena faced Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The match finished when Cena countered Del Rio's Backstabber to deliver a crushing AA. Del Rio had been focusing on his arm the entire time. He executed the three-second tap to retake the world title.
8. WrestleMania 26
The famous Bret Hart and Vince McMahon were involved in the massive build-up to this event, and John Cena sided with the former in opposition to the authority.
On the largest platform, Cena defeated Batista to win the title. Cena leaped over the shoulders of his opponent just as he was about to execute his signature maneuver, the "Batista Bomb," and was able to drag him to the floor.
After that, he locked in a Stepover Toehold Facelock (STF),to which Batista tapped and Cena was able to retrieve his crown.
7. WrestleMania 25
Cena had actually won the Championship with a remarkable display of strength the year before his victory over Batista.
In a Triple Threat match, Cena squared off against Edge and Big Show.
There was a lot of activity outside the ring in addition to inside it, but Cena stole the show by simultaneously raising both opponents above his head to set up the AA, dumping Edge, then pining Big Show to win his second title.
6. WrestleMania 29
Once in a lifetime, they claimed. Of course, it turned out that this wasn't the case.
The Rock had won the title the year before, thus WrestleMania 29 offered him a second shot, which he took.
The Rock attempted to hit Cena with a Rock Bottom, but Cena quickly countered and used an expertly executed AA to drive his opponent to the ground, earning the match's winning three-count.
5. Elimination Chamber 2010
Seven Superstars competed in this much anticipated encounter. Champion Sheamus, Randy Orton, Triple H, Ted DiBiase, Kofi Kingston, and Cena himself.
The final two wrestlers standing were Cena and Triple H. Cena caught Triple H in an STF and had him tap out to win his eighth WWE world title.
4. Survivor Series 2008
In a match packed of counters, Cena emerged victorious against Chris Jericho once more.
The crowd went berserk as Cena's hand was raised as the new champion as he demonstrated his physical strength by lifting Jericho off the squared circle and executing a huge FU that was impossible to recover from.
3. Breaking Point 2009
An intriguing rule applied to this match.
Randy Orton would have lost the championship right away if someone had intervened on his behalf. This wasn't necessary, in Cena's opinion.
After over 20 minutes of combat, Cena gained the upper hand and handcuffed Orton in a one-armed STF before forcing him to declare, "I quit.
2. WrestleMania 21
At the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Cena successfully defended his title against John "Bradshaw" Layfield.
JBL had the upper hand for much of the match, but Cena triumphed by avoiding a Clothesline from Hell and executing a flawless FU to win the title.
1. Money in the Bank 2014
This goes down as his biggest victory ever. not just for the match itself, but also for the way he won.
Eight Superstars were vying for the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight title, similar to his victory in the Elimination Chamber four years before.
When Kane and Cena were the only two men remaining, John delivered a flawless AA on top of Kane, leaving Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at the announcer's table speechless.
To become the undisputed champion, Cena quickly ascended the ladder and acquired both belts.
