Two voices. (Galatians 5:16-21)

There is a parable, an old one, one that is almost as old as the human story. It has showed up in every ancient culture in the world and in fun fact we find a version of it with Cain. It's part of why I think every nation has this story, because of the truth that is clear. In the native stories it is a pair of wolves, in the far east it is a pair of dragons. I'm sure if you know the story you are hearing it already, if not it is summed up as this: In your heart, brain, being really, there are two creatures, one guiding you to ruin and damnation. One that is generous beyond measure and the other that is selfish beyond hope. The one that you feed more is the one that will rule you. Cain was given a similar understanding in Genesis. (Gen 4:6-7) The end though is what strikes me as a different, "But you must subdue it and be its master." This is the idea and think Paul is hinting at and playing on. In being lead by The Spirit we are walking in the path set before us by our more-than-a-conqueror-GOD. In surrender to HIM we master the beast in us.
