Erik ten Hag ready to take major transfer gamble in bid to implement philosophy at Man United

Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, is apparently willing to take a significant recruitment gamble this summer by forgoing the acquisition of a genuine defensive midfielder.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag is focusing on bringing in Barcelona midfielder Frankie de Jong, and will make him his priority.

Christian Eriksen is also mentioned in the report, but it seems the manager is not currently considering adding an all-defensive player in front of the back four.

After United's poor defensive performance last season, where players like Harry Maguire looked bad in part because of the lack of support from the midfield in front of them, this feels like a rather risky move.

The likes of Scott McTominay and Fred don’t really look good enough as a partnership, while the experienced Nemanja Matic has left Old Trafford on a free transfer.

If Ten Hag is unable to successfully execute his playing style, this could backfire and leave Man united F C lacking in that area of the field.

It would have been wise for Man Utd to have get Yves Bissouma, who recently moved to Tottenham and didn't do so for outrageous money, more thought.

What are your thought on this guys ? will this backfire
