Ingrid Gunnell is Rebuked for Unhinged 'Defund The Police' Rant at GUSD Board Meeting

Newly-installed board member Ingrid Gunnel urges the Glendale Unified School Board to vote against renewing their contract with the LA County Sheriffs Department for Student Resource Deputy at CV High and Rosemont Middle School. However, her efforts were in vain as her fellow board members slapped her down and voted to renew the contract anyway.

Gunnell said, “Modern day policing was brought to us, to this country to catch enslaved.. to catch escaped enslaved black people on this continent. And I think it’s very important we understand the institutions we’re making contracts with and the history of them.”

She continued, “I can not in good faith promote an institution [police] that continues to harm, especially our students of color and our students who are Islamic.”
