Gorbachev made German unification possible: Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday (August 31) commemorated Mikhail Gorbachev as a "courageous reformer and a statesman who dared to do many things." Gorbachev, who ended the Cold War without bloodshed but failed to prevent the collapse of the Soviet Union, died on Tuesday at the age of 91.
