In this episode, we unbox and test out the GripCase Lite in MaxCarry case from Skull and Co, designed for the Nintendo Switch Lite.

While don't I have never been a huge fan of the original Switch, and now the Switch OLED, in handheld mode, I've actually thought the Switch Lite is an exceptional handheld device. It's comfortable, it's sized right, overall, it's terrific. Even so, the handheld experience can be improved with the use of a grip or a case, & that's where the GripCase Lite light from Skull and Co comes into play and having tested their NeoGrip recently, I was really looking forward to this.

The GripCase Lite light is available both with and without a MaxCarry case. You can also get the GripCase Lite in a variety of different colors, and that includes the interchangeable grip colors as well. The grip itself is molded out of TPU, lightweight and flexible, while the interchangeable grips are more of an ABS plastic sort of material.

The MaxCarry case is very similar to other versions they've released over the years, but there are a few tweaks and changes here as well. The storage underneath the system is drastically larger than in previous iterations, and while you can't use a Switch dock with the Switch Lite, there's almost enough room to accommodate a portable dock. You can also store headphones, a power supply, and other accessories down below. There's also storage for eight different cartridges, and the area directly below where the Switch Lite would sit when transporting and around the storage area has slots or indentations in it so that you can use it as a stand for tabletop mode. Since the Switch Lite does not have a kickstand, this is a nice addition.

Fitting your Switch Lite to the GripCase Lite is super easy. All you need to do is slide the top of your system into the case, and then slide the bottom down around the lower edge. Quick, easy, and convenient. The top of the case does provide some additional protection for your L & R triggers, reducing signs of wear and tear on them over their time. There are also cutouts for the AC adapters, so you don't need to remove the case to be able to charge your system, cutouts for the cartridge slot, headphone port, and molded indentations for the volume up and down rocker and power button.

Three different interchangeable grips are included with the GripCase Lite light, the SnapGrip, TriggerGrip, and PlusGrip. The SnapGrip comes in a little plastic tray in the storage area down below, and the TriggerGrips are wrapped up when you receive the case. Sliding the grips on and off is super easy, but not so easy that they will come off during gameplay. Personally, I prefer the PlusGrip on many of their other cases, however, the TriggerGrip felt better on the GripCase Lite light than on any other variation I have ever tried. I almost felt like the PlusGrip was a little bit too tall and didn't have quite enough clearance between it and the ZL and ZR triggers.

This Switch Lite is actually my wife's, and she primarily plays Animal Crossing on it. For over a year, she's actually used a Satisfye ZenGrip for her Switch Lite, but I had her try this one out. Like me, she wasn't a fan of the SnapGrip, and felt the PlusGrip was definitely more comfortable. One of her friends also has a Switch Lite, and also really appreciated the fact that you could change the grips to tailor the comfort level.

Why it RoX
- Under $40
- Available in a variety of colors
- Three different interchangeable grips included
- MaxCarry case bundle is terrific
- Huge storage under system
- It's just comfortable

What could be improved
- Grips not interchangeable with NeoGrip grips
- I prefer the design of the NeoGrip over this
- Does not provide clearance for charging stands
- PlusGrip is a little bit tall

Should you buy one?
Skull & Co makes terrific products, and the GripCase Lite and MaxCarry case are no exception. It's comfortable, lightweight, and helps protect your Switch Lite in transport. Overall, it is a terrific handheld grip for the Switch Lite. I've been spoiled lately with Skull & Co's NeoGrip for my Switch OLED, and I really love the way that plays and feels in the hand. This isn't quite that good, but it's pretty close. Add in the optional colors, and the ability to get simply the GripCase Lite or the MaxCarry case and you have a terrific package that any Switch Lite owner should consider.
