How States are Vulnerable to the China Tech Threat

Dr. Roslyn Layton, co-founder of the group China Tech Threat, studies the threats and problems of technology produced by the People’s Republic of China and offers policy solutions to protect the security, privacy, and prosperity of the people of the United States. “Many states unwittingly purchase technology that the federal government has banned because it poses a threat from China,” Dr. Roslyn Layton told ALEC TV at the ALEC 49th Annual Meeting. “China is targeting state lawmakers.” ALEC’s Federalism & International Relations Task Force adopted the model An Act to Prohibit State Contracts with Chinese Government Owned or Affiliated Technology Manufacturers aimed at countering this challenge at the 2022 Annual Meeting. The model policy was dual-referred to the CIED Task Force and has been approved by the ALEC Board of Directors.
