Space weather watchers observed a series of powerful solar flares between Saturday (Aug. 27) and Monday (Aug. 29), the most powerful of which registered as an M8-class flare and occurred on Monday at 7:07 a.m. EDT (1207 GMT), SpaceWeather.com reports. Space.com reported.

The fourth-strongest solar flare, M, is ranked by scientists among five lettered categories. Larger outbursts are represented by higher numbers within each category. Dhaka Tribune reported.

The Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) states that the charged particles released during this solar activity will reach our planet today, August 29. The interaction of the magnetized particles with the Earth's magnetosphere is expected to create a G1-class geomagnetic storm. Interesting Engineering reported.
